Always with a vegetable (often frozen) and a starch which was usually potatoes, cornbread, or—you guessed it—Minute Rice.. We have a person of color to thank for the marvel of modern ingenuity that is Minute Rice.. And honestly, after spending your evening roasting a chicken or nursing a sauce, what working parent has time for a 30-minute-long temperamental experiment in which the rice might turn out mushy or stiff while the rest of dinner is on the table waiting?

We love the Year & Day Core Set, which includes 16 pieces for four place settings with plates, side plates, low bowls, and regular bowls. The sleek but organic look of this set comes from locally sourced clay in Portugal through a single-firing process that makes the set durable enough for the dishwasher, freezer, and even the oven up to 480 degrees..The semi-matte glaze on these pieces is the element we love—especially with the nine beautiful color options.

Defining Reference Design

When San Francisco-based cool coffee tool brand Fellow launched its Stagg Pour-Over Kettle in 2014, we took notice.

Over 10 years later, we’re still impressed with its design. We were trying to think of a limited concept to go into that space.

I was talking to another friend who's in the industry and she traveled for work. She was talking about places that were just simple concepts, like Pizzeria Bianco, or one that was just noodles.

She said, "I think anything would work in Germantown, because there's just so little here.".Leigh said, "Well, we can always call it Geechee Girl and do rice," and I was like, "That is a great idea."
